Just a dream i had : Live 3 Port to Xbox

Post by Guest » Wed Jul 21, 2004 12:36 pm

Woke up after playing around with the 4 beta andthen spend the rest of the night on my New Xbox ... (life feels great sometimes (pun intended))

And then it hit me ...why not Play Live 3 (ableton) on the Xbox ?

Would be so much fun to bring my xbox , a mini tv and my Kaoss II tto One of our show , instead of the laptop.

Live 3 because it only needs samples..and you can use the inbound FX..

My Guess is it wouldn't be that hard to port ...the xbox is already a PC .
the Xbox can read files from it's dvdplayer has a reasonable audio card it has enough processor power and just enough memory..
Looking at it i think only the save and/ or render to disk option would need a work around..or it would be like playing the Live 3 demo version.

And a whole new Market would open up for the Ableton compagny.

oh well ...just my dream..
Oke Ableton fans and Ableton makers , what are your thoughts about this ?

Not enough RAM

Post by duncjam » Wed Jul 21, 2004 5:57 pm

Like all games consoles, the Xbox has woefully tiny RAM compared with a PC (64MB, which is what my old Mac Powerbook 1400c had in 1998 and that was small then). And I don't think you can upgrade it like you can with the Xbox's HD either.

Sadly I think this one will remain a dream, that MTV Music Generator thing seems to be the only game in town for music production on the Xbox right now...

I think it can still work

kinda this way :

- limit the track count to 8 tracks max
- allow only 1 reverb (on the send ?)
- allow only limited use of the delay
- no hi-Q

and there must be some other little things to reducde where i cannot think of now...

So actually my dream was about remix/live delta on the xbox..

I don't understand why you would rather perform using an x-box and a small television over a laptop?

You will have to carry and hook up more stuff while sacrificing power and sound quality.

Doesn't make much sense to me.

Explain please?

the X-box can run Gentoo Linux (hint!).

And I think you upgrade it to 128 MB RAM, but I'm not sure.

Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.
