Hi !
If I prelisten to drum MIDI files it sounds strange. Of course Live do not know which drum instrument to play.
Is there a way to configure the instrument ?
I use Toontrack Superior Drums and want to browse through the NY Avatar MIDI files.
Thanks,
Andreas

no, not a stupid question. just a lesser-known answer. I can only guess at the mac answer and although I'm not inclined to tell someone it can't be done, in this case, I'm leaning towards that answer. It needs to implement general midi, which is why I think the mac defaults to the DSL. If you look in the advanced settings in the QuickTime Preference pane, you can change the default Synthesizer. Of all things, I've only ever tried this in Sibelius. And there, too, was such an option. Not so in Ableton. Unless I'm overlooking something clever whereby Ableton is somehow using one of the synths you've loaded into a set (in the same vein that it previews audio clips in tempo with the Session tempo)
I just took a quick look in the application package files along with the library preferences, and I can't find anything to help you out.
I'm just about to build up my default settings for all my plugins and instruments. When you look in your Ableton Library, see if the defaults folder unveils any mysteries.
