Session clips updating Arrangement clips: possible?

Post by Azteka » Tue Feb 17, 2009 6:51 pm

Hi,

I'm currently trying out Ableton Live so I'm on trial here. Love the tool so far although I stumbled on something which I don't believe it can be true. I've created a few clips in the session view and dragged them to the arrangement view. After editing one of the clips, the changes weren't reflected in the clips in the arrangement. Is there a way to make this happen automatically? Because I would quite dislike the fact that I need to update every single clip in the arrangement after modifying the clip in the session view.

For example: If I have a breakbeat and alter the clip with the beats in the session view then I would like to have the same clips in the arrangement updated automatically. This instead of removing all those clips from the arrangement and put the new clip in those spots. Like editing a ghost copy.

Is this possible? Currently I have them treated as independent objects.

Many thanks,
Jasper

Alright, thanks for being very clear about that.

Is there any reason why it doesn't work that way? I can imagine that it may be annoying for users who work in a whole different way.

search the forum for 'alias clips' and you will find like-minded people to discuss it with.
