Can I just authorise on one computer or two (like NI or Mackie Tracktion) or more?

you can unlock on 2 machines, but the license states you can only run 1 copy at a time. Ableton are really good with unlocks. I am retiring one of my machines this week when the new one turns up and they have increased my unlock counter for me as I had run out.

The Licence agreement says you can install on 2 computers (i.e. if you have a powerful desktop for studio use & a laptop for live performances) but as creature said, you're only allowed to run 1 at a time (for more, you can purchase a discounted 2nd licence).

That's fine - I just want a copy on my laptop too (but won't be literally at the same time)

what happens if I reformat or buy a new computer? I reformat my shit at least two or three times a year, combined with the fact that I have a desktop for studio use and a laptop for on the road stuff means I'll have to unlock this crap 4-6 times every year. WTF, I'm not buying extra licenses just because I reformat my computer, I should be able to install it however many times I like if I payed for it.

Calm down Geezus, you might want to re-read creature's first reply to this thread and take a deep breath. You might then find that Ableton are pretty reasonable when it comes to these things.
Kit: Sony Vaio E-series laptop (Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM) RemoteZero SL, Launchpad, Akai MPD16 drumpad, cheap-ass MIDI keyboard

I meant if you want to run live simultainiosly on more than 1 machine you need an extra licence. Getting extra unlocks after reformating shouldn't be a problem. A short email to the support team explaining you reformated should do.

I already have the money set aside to pay for it like I said I would mr smart guy. clearly I wouldnt be making such a big deal about this if I already had it and was familiar with the policy. Also, bonus of using the cracked version is I DONT HAVE TO ASK PERMISSION TO INSTALL IT MORE THAN TWICE. Also, if I wasnt planning on paying for 8, then I obviously wouldn't give a shit about this policy either, would I?
