Holy crap, it's getting late here. Turns out I was using Live 7 when detecting the below one
...Works correctly in 8b12, doesn't work in 7.0.14. (I forgot I was using Live 7 to cross check functionality and then I continued to "beta test" in 7.. Time to sleep.)

In the manual on using the editing grid in Arrangement view:
Currently holding Alt makes it impossible to grab a clip, and starting to hold Alt while you're dragging a clip doesn't have any effect.Manual wrote:You can hold down the Alt modifier while performing an action to bypass grid snapping.
