MacBook Beef (+ Audio Kontrol 1 query)

Post by logic_user99 » Fri Feb 20, 2009 4:06 pm

Como estan, beetcheez!

Has anyone else noticed how seriously poop the audio I/O ports are on the white MacBooks? I tried recording with them, and there is some hideous, hideous aliasing noise going on.

So, after some hideous times with recording last night (tried using my MA MobilePre USB with Live 7.0.10 and it REALLY f**ked it up - that box don't play nice with the Intel Macs) I've decided it's time to buy a new audio interface.

I'm going to get the NI Audio Kontrol 1 interface, as it seems pretty damn solid (and it comes with a free copy of Absynth 4!).

Just thought I'd share that.

I +1 your decision. The Audio Kontrol is tops in the world of small cheapish audio interfaces.

A true AK 1 story from Wednesday night:

I was sitting around the house Wednesday afternoon when I got a call from a friend of mine. He was doing a set at the Spark festival that evening, and his computer had just died on him. He'd managed to borrow a laptop, but the laptop didn't have FW ports, and his normal interface's a Firebox.

I showed up before the show started with my AK 1 (he'd downloaded the drivers from the NI site). Plugged it in, spent a minute or so configuring- the show went on (and sounded great).

Ah, I'm glad people are liking the AK1.

@Smartass303 - I think the poor quality of the audio interface on the mid-season white MBs is a common thing; funny digital noise going on...
