Ableton dropping notes on Midi record..

I have just bought the Korg nano pad and started to record with impulse. I noticed that when I play slowly that all notes are recorded into a midi clip however when I play faster that even though I can hear all the notes being played Ableton seems to skip the recording of some notes! It seems to be random so not connected to certain pads.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

I also tested my Trigger Finger and it has the same problem. Is this a latency issue? Strange that I can hear all the sounds being played but Ableton misses recording some.

Sounds VERY similar to my problem... no delay / latency... just notes being skipped / held... once I saw the problem in real time in key view I knew it wasn't my interface:

Are you using record quantization (Main Menu -> Edit -> Record Quantization)?

hmm this is interesting, I hvae a very similar problem with my MPD32 which I have outlined here - http://beatwise.proboards80.com/index.c ... thread=200

I assumed with was something in XP causing the problem but I've just reinstalled windows and it hasn't helped.

Seems to happen at the start of each bar....the notes just get delayed by quite a lot.

Im using Live 7.14. Maybe totally unrelated but thought I'd comment on it here just in case

hi,

@ Meef Chaloin:

skipped notes are different from delayed notes.
i assume that your issue has something to do with the usage of virtual midi ports and the npk software.
Do you get this delay when not using the npk soft?

best,
dfi

no, the delay isn't there when I don't use the NPK software which is why I haven't posted on here about it but any advice would be most welcome

I am using Live 7.14 on a Mac. I will check tonight with Quantization on and off to see if that makes a difference.

BTW, the CPU usage was quite low at only max 10%.

Well I recorded with and without Quant. and both seemed to work without dropouts. Maybe it was a glitch in my Mac yesterday. I started Live with the controller already plugged in. Maybe that helped. So at the moment everything is working again. I will keep an eye on it...
