Integrating an Akai MPC with Ableton

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forums, so please forgive me as I am sure this has been covered before.

Recently, I acquires an MPC 1000 from a friend that was moving and I purchased Ableton Live last week. I am spending a lot of time with both and I just wanted to see who uses both of these in the forums.

In what ways can I integrate the Akai along with Ableton???

First, I obviously will be making beats on the MPC and recording them into Ableton to be reworked. I understand that this will require an interface. Now...is it possible to control anything in Ableton with the MPC 1000???

Again these are n00b questions and I apologize, but all of this is rather new for me!

Also, if anyone here actually works with both, I would be very interested to hear what kind of stuff you are doing, so please give me some links.
