1. Open new live set.
2.create track with Default Sampler instrument
3. Select as Instant mapping device with blue hand.
4. Scroll through banks
Bank 2 and 3 - nothing
Bank 4 - sparse
Bank 5,6 and 7 - nothing
Bank 8 - Sparse
5. Stay on Bank 8.
6. Switch on P. Env with mouse
All the slots in Bank 8 now have controls allocated
7. Switch off P. Env with mouse
Allocated controls remain in Bank 8.
This doesn't seem like it's a feature if the controls remain when you turn off the relevant control set. It's similar for the other controls (Filter, Shaper, LFO 1, 2 and 3, Osc). I think it's better that all the controls are ready and you can adjust them before turning on the relevant button.

Sorry, it isn't clear here - there wasn't enough room to type full situation, hence the ellipis. The problem exists in 8.0b16.
I will wait for the 16 beta to expire before downloading the latest because I'm worried about being hit by my ISP for downloading huge files all the time.

hi logman,
the parameters in Sampler and Simpler are created on first demand to save memory, when e.g. turning on the pitch envelope or the filter. There are many use-cases where one needs simple sample play back with tons of Samplers. If we would allocate all parameters at once, this would need much more memory. So this is a feature, not a bug
best wishes,
