Not sure whether this is a bug in 4.01 but when I load a virtual instrument ( in this case Pro53) I can only play approx 2 octaves on my midi keyboard and if I play any notes either higher or lower than the midi range all the other tracks stop.
I can't seem to find anywhere in the Live 4 manual for extending the midi note range on VSTi's but also I think the bug that stops all running tracks dead needs to be removed.
My set up.

Advent 7012 P4 laptop running XP
512mb ram
40gig hd 4800rpm (i think)
Firewire Audiophile
