License question - pls help

Hi All,

I am about to have my computer repaired. It will take a few weeks before I will get it back.

A few weeks without Ableton Live.

Or.....

Can I install Live on another computer while my own is being repaired and temporarily move my license to that computer?

If yes, how?

You get 2 unlocks, so if you've only installed Live on the computer you're getting repaired, you're fine.

After you unlock Live on 2 computers, you have to email Ableton support with a quick explanation of why you need another.

So if you use your 2nd unlock on the other computer, you may have to email them when you get your main comp back.

Is it ok to run 2 unlocks simultaneously? i.e. I'd like Ableton installed on my MacBook Pro for mobile use, but the majority of time would be using it at home on my Windows XP PC. Does the licensing support this?

what you described is ok. what is not allowed under 1 license is running your mbp and pc together at the same time.

Yeah 2 unlocks available for multiple machines but you can only run 1 copy at a time. Ableton are very good with unlocks. I have had to request them from time to time, for example on my laptop i went from xp to vista and this required another unlock being made available and I also got a new main pc so had to request anther unlock.

Ableton responded very quickly with additional unlocks. Just be honest with them and dont abuse the trust incase they take that facility away or make it much harder.
