One of the three new initiatives announced with Live 8/Suite 8 is
Max for Live. At our next User Group we will have a specialist on
hand to introduce this amazing new product to you.
Jeremy Bernstein will present Max for Live and demonstrate some
of its capabilities. For Live users with little or no Max experience,
the presentation will provide some insight into the structure and
use of Max, demonstrating how quickly and painlessly Max patches
can be integrated into your workflow. Experienced Max users will
have a chance to see how Live can enhance your Max experience.
And, of course, there will be plenty of time to answer your questions.

Max for Live, new from Cycling '74 and Ableton, augments Ableton's
Live digital audio workstation with the flexibility and customizability
of the Max/MSP visual programming environment. Users can create
Max devices to process audio or MIDI, build unique synthesizers,
control Live's GUI, process notes in Live clips using the live.api
objects, or take advantage of Max's ability to "convert anything
to anything" and work with video, external hardware or software.
Jeremy Bernstein splits his time between audio and video work and
developing software. His sound- and image-based projects and
collaborations have been presented throughout Europe and North
America. He's worked with Cycling '74 since 2000, where he is a
co-developer of the Max/MSP/Jitter visual programming environment.
He lives in Berlin, Germany.
For over thirty years, Harvestworks has brought together innovative
practitioners from all branches of the digital arts, providing a
vital context and catalyst for creativity in the field. From its
central SoHo location in New York City, Harvestworks has offered
artists on-site recording studios, programming services, workshops,
classes and one-on-one tutorials in emerging technologies, and
supported the pioneers of computer music with equipment and instruction.
As a tool for musicians and video artists, Max/MSP has been a central
part of the Harvestworks program for twenty years. Harvestworks
is currently offering regularly scheduled year-round classes and
workshops on a wide variety of topics relating to Max/MSP and Jitter,
as well as the Certificate Program, a flexible course of one-on-one
instruction.
