Audio Codec USB

I have recently bought an Alesis iMultimix 8 USB for recording. However, there is a massive amount of background noise coming from Ableton Live 6 seemingly from the Audio USB Codec. Is there a fix for this or do I have to talk to Alesis about their codec? Many thanks.

it seems you have a ground loop problem. how does the background noise sound? is it low frequency? hum/buzz? a codec doesn´t generate noise, a codec is there for digitalization of signals. if a signal is noisy the noise will be coded/decoded also. ableton doesn´t genearate noise unless you are making synth sounds with noise waveforms.
