where does summing take place ?

Let me start out by saying im happy with lives sound quality before any one thinks this is another hate post

my question is where does summing take place pre or post insert

e.g if i put a waves ssl strip on insert one of the master is the audio subject to the summing in the ssl plugin or has it already been summed

im just wondering cause a few people i know do the hole compose in live then put the stems in cubase ect ect

As it is a stereo plugin, sits in a stereo master channel, gets a stereo signal and processes a stereo signal it should be technically clear that it is not doing the summing of your individual tracks of your project.

nothing is "technically clear " to me as im more about writting music than knowing the ins and outs of processing. thanx for the reply all the same
