Ok. I've been using live for a while composing my own stuff and I understand the workflow for that. Recently I have been involved in a project where I record a live band onto multi tracks in arrangment view.
Basic enough. The problem I am having is that the material in the session is not at one tempo and I am having a hell of a time adjusting the tempo and then creating clips that sync up.
I guess what I am trying to figure out is lets say I record a song (8 tracks-normal tape recorder style) the length of the song 5 minutes in arrangement view but don't set the tempo initially to the song tempo. Say I leave it at 120 bpm. Then after the song is recorded I want to adjust lives tempo to match the song and set up warping. How can I do this to all tracks without them going out of sync with each other.
Thanks for whatever ideas you may have. Or if there is already a post could someone provide a link.
Adjusting tempo of mult track recording in arrangement view.
Re: Adjusting tempo of mult track recording in arrangement view.
you have two options depending on what you want
1. you want live to adjust the master tempo to what was actually recorded in the multitracking
2. you sort of want to do that, but you also want to warp the multitracking to a contstant tempo
----
1. select all the clips which comprise the multitrack recording. then switch the 'slave' switch so it says 'master'. any markers you set at this point will not alter the playback of the arrange tracks, but instead will create envelopes on the master tempo.
2. select as in #1, but leave it on slave, and set warp markers on the visible clip. to control which clip you view to place markers on, select it last.
NB the clips must be exactly the same length. if they are not for some reason, you will have to consolidate them over the same time span so that they are.

Thanks I'll give it a try. I think this will work.
