Session Drums vs BFD2 - the ultimate showdown ...?

Do you have experience with Session Drums and BFD? Maybe you can help me ...

I've been trying to find a decent comparison of how Session Drums and BFD compare but with no luck. I want to know how they stack up in terms of sound quality and functionality. But I really want to hear from people who actually used both products ... please.

My use will be taking a performance from an electronic drumkit, tweaking it a little, then layering it with a quality drum sounds (ie. Session Drums or BFD).

Yes i sometimes have layering of real (!!!) and electronic drums,
i used to have Toontrack EZDrummer but have recently purchased BFD2 which is particulary awesome in comparison. 55gig of sounds and you can jam between loops in realtime on a keyboard, best feature i've used for a while.

i'm a new sessions drums user and i like it.

the drum racks can get pretty deep though... i'm still getting my head around all that.

This was the part that put me off.
SD sounds great, but having them in a rack is a pain in the pooper.
if the abes figured a way to put them in their own device interface
with all controls on the first layer i'd be on them like white on rice.

interesting thread. i'm using BFD1 and i've just got session drums.
what's disappointing in session drum is that there is no "room" parameter (the distance of the mikes). unless i'm wrong...

It isn't fair to compare EZDrummer with BFD2. Try Toontrack's Superior 2. That is more apples to apples comparison. There are other products out there as well. My personal pick is Superior 2. Although BFD2 is nice as well. Both are the premier drum kit VST's available and have 24 bit samples. Session Drums seems (to me) a tortured way of producing something to fill the slot of a high quality Drum Kit VST. And the beauty of the VST is that it goes with you when you utilize another DAW outside of Live. They are expensive though.
