Automation in Session view
I'd like to be able to choose whether the envelope in a clip in session view modulates or automates the (mixer-) parameter. The modulation (red dot...) that is now the only option has a huge drawback in my eyes: When i want the track volume to be automatically reduced dastically when i launch a new scene i can get this now with the envelope, but if i later want to raise the volume again, i can't do that because the envelope keeps it at a fraction of the actual level. But using arrangement where i can automate and later overrun the automation with a controller is not an option, as the sections in my piece are of indefinite length due to improvisation.
Re: Automation in Session view
I have posted this before and this is my biggest wish/problem with
using ableton live.
Please allow to use actual value the knob is at,
instead of a percentage of the knob's value.
Especially that the percentage defaults to 100% ?
With every envelope, it is a problem that it is 100%.
You cannot RAISE it. If you do, you must set
the Knob all the way up, and then Lower
the envelopes in all your clips.
Also: you can create a Loop in the arrangement view which contains
automation, and because of this problem,
when you drag that loop into the Clips view, the automation
is not retained.
Allowing the use of absolute values in the Clips' envelopes
would also allow RECORDING automation into Clips.
(another extreme drawback in my opinion).

Mr-Bit... LOL
Yeah this had been an on going issue for a long time now. Many people have put in a request so this relates to a multitude of posts on this board.
The common suggestion has been to have a button to switch it from the way it functions now to the way we want it. Therefore it would not mess with any of your previous projects.
We all would love to see positive modulation of a parameter as well as just negative. I believe the correct term is bi-polar? I could be wrong. All I know is its one of the most requested features on this board and we all need it.
