Plug Ins Flashing Wildly

some of my plugins, haven't really noticed a pattern as to which: usually not reverb
or the EQs, but can be Ableton native or third party, FLASH CRAZILY (a strobe-like effect)
when i drop them in.

alot of the time this involves the plugin ON/OFF button (top left) and seemingly random
other controls throughout the interface.

right now the one that is doing it is the Utility Plugin Left.
the ON/OFF/Bypass is solidly on this time, but the Mute and DC buttons strobe,
the Gain knob stobes, the "left, stereo..etc" drop menu is strobing..

the Panorama C window is solid, "Width" is at "100%" and solid
but the "Phz-L" and "Phz-R" buttons are alternately strobing between
green and gray..

i've tried different things, resetting my bluetoothe keyboard and mouse, any
midi controllers, making sure no keys are being pressed down inadvertantly..

when i put an audio file on that track it cuts in and out rapidly (maybe not as rapidly as the visual strobe).

i DID first notice this (i think) after installing Live8 beta ( v8.0.1, maybe the one before..)
which i've since deleted.
haven't upgraded yet. (Live 8 was tending to crash on my MBookPro so i stopped using it..)

haven't had time to troubleshoot.

anybody out there have any idea what may be causing this?

think it's control or an AU conflict?
what should i try?

haven't seen anything like it in searches on this forum..

Hi zloo,

that sounds really strange. In order to troubleshoot, please disconnect any external hardware. Temporarily disable any Midi ports in Live´s Midi/Sync preferences. Set all control surface choosers to "none" - does the problem still occur?

hi Jörg. thank you for getting back to me.

i've been busy working (with Live) so i hadn't had a chance to look on the furum.

your suggestion sounds very promising.
i will probably get to try it soon.

this may also help with the relatively frequent crashes i've bee experiencing..

will disable midi input for live.
will post back if/when i resolve this issue.

(oops, i was having a flashing Reverb parameter, came here to check for responses
and Live crashed while i was typing to you. will try yr suggestions)
