hope everybody has a great weekend!!

i have m-audio mobilepre usb with a shure sm-57 mic running on a hp laptop with windows vista 64, all gear is brand new! i played my sax thru the mic into the interface and recorded a 30 sec. clip, no effects or nothing and when i played it back there was alot of static & noise? any clues would be helpful thanks john

You might have the gain boosted up too much. you should do your level checks before you record.
also if you don't have outboard compressor or eq. set a gate on the input signal to cut out background noise.

1. built in WIFI should be turned off?
2. built in mic on the laptop is on?
3. need to purchase a DI BOX to run your mic through to get rid of unwanted noise,grounding?
