[5549] clips in live 8.0.3 transpose sticking
[5549] clips in live 8.0.3 transpose sticking
hello there
i have a strange problem with 8.0.3
if i do clip transpose automation on an audio clip, say a downward envelope to say -24 , the following "unwarped" clip will then be triggered from its start point at the -24 st position.
and continue to play out its duration as -24.
also while this is happening the unwarped clip will show automation input on the transpose pot/ as if there was an envelope controling it.
"hmmmmmmmm the clip is unwarped"
if i then start playback of the unwarped clip from and position after the clip start indicator ,the clip plays back in its correct manner.
lets say i warp the second clip of the two and play the 1st threw to the second , the problem dose not happen.
also
if i drag the tail of the 1st clip back so there is no contact of fade between the two the problem still occurs.
but
it dosent show and automation input on the tranpose pot.
you just get the -24 st sound.
i have also tryed turning off autofading audio clips in pref's.
please help
as its drivin me quite mad
thanks

Re: clips in live 8.0.3 transpose sticking
YES. FINALLY! I posted a similar thread with a workaround until Ableton actually gets around to fixing it in Live 9.0:
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=115691
This is a SERIOUSLY bad bug. Ableton needs to get on this and fix it ASAP. The transpose bug is the same in 8.0.2 as well.

Re: clips in live 8.0.3 transpose sticking
No, I was just being sarcastic because we're on the 3rd update of Live 8 and this issue still hasn't been fixed (along with clips sticking to the mouse cursor). I just wouldn't be surprised if these bugs didn't get fixed before 9.0 since it seems not a single serious bug has been addressed.swivet wrote:fixed in live 9.0

Re: clips in live 8.0.3 transpose sticking
This issue is present with MIDI as well. Come on Ableton. I can't get a simple C3 to play any longer without being pitched all wrong unless I start a fresh track.

Re: clips in live 8.0.3 transpose sticking
Yeah i have spoke to ableton about it, and sent them a demo set yesterday showing the problem.
So yeah looks like there onto it,
It seems that the problem on the audio side is, 1 audio clip that has been split ,to create the 2 files in question.
if its two different files side bye side / consolidated or diff file names. It dosent happen.
You can get round it by consolidating the audio clips ,so maybe try that for the midi.

Hi Facehead,
I can reproduce the problem with audio clips over here, bug report filed. Swivet, how exactly do you reproduce the problem with Midi clips?
Best,
Jörg

Re: [5549] clips in live 8.0.3 transpose sticking
Anyone found a work around for this? Heard from Ableton?

Re: [5549] clips in live 8.0.3 transpose sticking
I figured it out...turned out to be related to warp mode. Setting the mode to "tones" worked. Did not work in beats or re-mix. I think live does some intelligent algorithm work to determine what's the best mode for the track will be; however, certain modes affect your ability to transpose.
