Hi guys,
I've seen people discussing this re. Live 7, and I'm on 8 and hoping I might have luck here.
OK, like many, I'm trying to figure out how to easily move from one song to the next live. Problem:
1)We use the same external midi triggers to move from scene to scene in songs-therefore, I believe the "down and to the right" option of having all clips on one live set will not work.
2) I use reason via rewire on many of the songs-same deal, we need a different reason project open for each song.
3) I am using DMXIS to control lighting in Ableton which shows up as a VST plugin.
Because of #3, I think I need to avoid just opening a new ableton project as that will freak out our stage lights...
I guess I'm hoping that Live 8 has done something re. setlists that is different that what people are doing in 7?
I saw a little about people having multiple instances of Ableton open and/or using a macro to make things work for them?
Cheers,
Joel

Re: Hoping not to be the same old switching songs live question
Joel,
You're right - DMXIS zeroes all 512 DMX channels when it is first opened, so yes, it would play havoc with your stage lights between songs.
BUT... if you can't find a solution using Live 8 setlists or whatnot, I can probably remove this behaviour - so that the DMXIS hardware interface "holds" the final lighting scene played in one Live project, while you close it and open the next project.
Let me know.
Dave.
