Looper is hating on me.

Post by Tone Deft » Sat Jun 13, 2009 11:29 pm

no clue wtf is going on.

the only midi assignment is the 'big button' to my pedal via APC, that's working fine.

Looper won't record new takes. prior to that it would only make loops that were 2.1. I deleted the Looper, dropped in a new one and only made 1 assignment to it, the pedal.

when it plays back, it plays back the recording once then goes to an old one. the loops were stuttering, all kinds of fail.

measures long.
Quantize - none
record - x bars
song control - none
tempo control - set & follow song tempo

Live GUI quantize is none and I stop the set song before I record.

gonna reboot or just record straight to clip, shit.

I just want to congratulate you on using the word "hating" in your post title. I find it utterly fantastic when this word is used in any fashion.

hi Tone. Looper does fucking crazy things when your pedal's polarity is wrong - meaning it sends cc value 127 all the time, and when you press it it sends 0.

I had that. Record your midi pedal into an empty clip and check out what it does

Also, were you using the pedal to trigger looper before you owned the APC.

Just trying to half step the problem.

thanks for the tips guys, much appreciated!

I've been using Looper since the beta release and have put in many hours using it.

I tried it the pre-APC way, with my Novation SL, shit that doesn't work at all. I've got remote in enabled, I can assign the pedal to it, I see Remote In Midi activity at the top of the Live GUI, but Looper isn't responding. it puts the blue hand on Looper when I hit the pedal, but Looper doesn't start.

shit.

Live 8.03.

I guess next step is to try it with the APC disconnected and get a thread going in the bugs forum.

You said you're using the pedal "via the APC", what kind of pedal is it, exactly how is it set up via the APC, and what is the pedal sending, cc or note?

+1 to post in the bugs thread, someone else with an APC needs to try what you're doing.

Don't know what to tell you. I had the same problem. It would play about the first 1/2 of the loop, then play silence unless I had previously recorded with the looper. In this case it would play an old buffer. I could reproduce in 8.03. I contacted support, but obviously this isn't a common problem so that got me nowhere. I gave up on the looper for a week or so. Tried again later and it's working perfectly. I could reproduce without a pedal at all.

Don't think I can help isolate what changed that fixed my situation, but I know I was messing around with the audio midi setup and aggregate devices. My best advice would be to try a different soundcard or change your buffer size, then switch back.
