Rewire+VST?

Post by hat » Sun Aug 15, 2004 3:48 pm

Will there be a fix for this?

Using Live with ProTools, Live with Reason, Live with ReVision, = no VSTi. Kind of a pisser if you ask me...
I'm working on a short film using ReVision and Live, only to find out I can't use Kontakt which I just spent $400 on. Come on now....

I cannot say anything regarding Live with ProTools or ReVision, but rewiring Reason into Live does not prevent me from using Kontakt as VSTi at the same time. Perhaps the problem is with some specs of your system - could you be more specific on this?
--------------------------------
System:
Pentium IV 3,06 GHz, 1Gb RAM
Windows XP home SP2
M-Audio Delta66
Live 4.1.1, FL 5.0.2, Reason 3.0,
ReCycle 2.1, Rebirth 2.01,
Sonar 4.0.2 Prod., Project5 1.5, WaveLab 5.00, Kinetic, NI-stuff etc

G4 Powerbook 1.25ghz/1GB RAM/120GB
LaCieD2 FW Drive
Digi002R
ProTools LE 6.4

Actually, Rewiring Reason also works here, my bad for stating otherwise.
However, ReVision, which I need to use often, disables all VST(i), as does ProTools. I'm beginning to wonder if it's an issue with Digi's Core Audio driver. They recently released a mult-client driver which I have yet to download, perhaps that could help...I'll try that and see.

Unfortunately using plug-ins when Live is running in Rewire slave mode is not an easy task. The explaination is very technical and has something to do with that the plug-ins have to run in two Applications (Processes) at the same time, which is not really supported by the VST/AU standard. So please don't expect a fix for Live 4.0.

This limitation has nothing to do with particular drivers or configurations.
