Dynamics During a Performance

Post by kingb » Mon Jun 22, 2009 2:12 am

Hi

I'm using Live as my primary "band" - each song has about 5 scenes which I trigger via a midi foot controller. This works pretty well but when I want to stretch a section out and maybe jam over it a bit, things start to sound pretty dry. I'd like to have something where if a certain scene is playing, changing the volume controller affects the bands "dynamics". I can easily assign the controller to a volume fader, but I'm looking for a bit more. For example some samples have different sounds based on how hard (velocity) you might hit a key. e.g. some piano sounds are muted when you play lightly and percussive and bring when you really strike the keys.

Is there a way to do something like this with drums and/or bass samples - where backing off the volume controller "brings the band" down and conversely, pushing it will "get the band rocking"? Any other suggestions?

check the velocity midi plug. if your midi-instruments react on how hard you hiit the keys, then this plug will allow you to adjust the hardness of hitting according to your needs.
