Modular Synth with Live...

Post by esky » Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:15 am

On Saturday i met this guy...http://navsmodularlab.blogspot.com/. First time i saw a modular synth system in action. Really great stuff.
Is anyone of you guys using a modular synth together with Live? With a step sequencer in sync...? Experiences...?
Thanks...

im just getting into the modular thing.. it can be alot of fun. im still not sure how much i want to use Live along with the synths but there are some really interesting new interfaces/solutions coming out these days:

Have a look at this post

Image what could be done with small modular system.
I so wish I had some spare cash.

I am using a modular synth with Live! I have several analogue sequencers clocked by a TR 606. This worked great but some days ago i received a Flame Clockwork which will be my new general clock.

Hey!

I actually demonstrated some ways to incorporate a modular synth into Live's workflow last month @ the Ableton user group here in Chicago.
As it happens, I just shot a video of me teaching a private lesson breaking some of the possibilities down. It will be posted by tomorrow and I'll provide a link here.

The big news is the "poor man's volta", which is a method of using warped LFO samples in Live and sending them out of a motu interface as dc coupled voltage to do envelopes, gates, project synced automation, volume/ pitch to cv and sequencing all with audio!

Works really really well. Quite an amazing combo.

Hopefully this is interesting for those using ableton with a modular, but here's the vid:

(Just hit refresh if it shows an error).

I'm demonstrating the poor man's volta (how to use audio samples as control voltage).

All the cv stuff is in the first half of the vid. The other half will probably be quite boring!

Just let me know if there's anything else I can show youz.
