i am a long time user of reason but recently found a limitation that really bothered me. i chopped a whole bunch of samples and was excited to use them when i found a limitation............that it's advanced sampler wont play samples chopped in recycle (rex file) with more than 92 slice points or chops........now i noticed that the sampler in live seems to play my rex files no matter what and i was currious if i could trigger each slice point in sampler with a different key on my midi controller? i have tinkered with it and it does play the sample but doesnt seem to recognize the slice points, is there a way for me to change this?
thanks

hey i was currious about sampler? can anyone help
Re: hey i was currious about sampler? can anyone help
I can't be too sure about this as I have never bothered with Rex files in Sampler. However, as far as it goes, Sampler is a beast of a machine, the NNXT or NN19 are great fun but Sampler walks all over them in the sound creation dept.justjay wrote:i have tinkered with it and it does play the sample but doesnt seem to recognize the slice points, is there a way for me to change this?
You can set your start and loop points visually, so shouldn't have any problems recreating any rex slice points, also, Live has an inbuilt slicer which is equally as good as Recycle and because it's tightly integrated into the program, it's a superb workflow enhancement tool. Perhaps you should use it instead of trying to get Sampler to recognise rex slice points.
You'll not want to go back to the "clunky" Recycle way of working once you've experienced Live's slicer and you'll no longer need the Reason samplers once you port everything over to Live's tools.
Don't get me wrong, Reason/Record has the potential to be incredible but it's a while away from achieving it as there's too many strange anomalies and their synths/samplers/effects aren't as varied as you can get with the much bigger plug-in coding community.

ok, sounds really cool, how do i find this in built slicer thing? also does it assing different slices to different keys on my midi controller? i use an akai mpk49 and am just getting up to speed with things on the digital level, luckily i have been with live since live 3 and am pretty familiar with it, although i've always used it for muti-track recording and sometimes time stretching, noting else really, maybe some sequencing and mixtapes you know. i am interested in chopping music samples and being able to have it spread in order on my keys of my controller, if this works i would be so stoked and may not do the reason thing as much, record does look and sound promising but it is still not out yet so until it is it means nothing to me. how do i get the sampler to work like the adavanced nnxt or the nn19 as far as mutiple slice points at once?
thank you for your time
p.s. i do understand the sound building cappabilities and am excited to experiment with it once i clear this one obsticle.
