1st MicroSoft songsmith.. now dj application/controller

Post by nuxnamon » Mon Jul 06, 2009 5:14 pm

never mind the scratching cuz it is crap but I can see the possibilities of it for a controller.. that's some star trek level controller.. this can make the lemur look out of date if developed right..

It does beg the question "why be a turntablist, when you can be a turnbigasstablist?"

[edit] it *is* an interesting concept, although the sound is awful and the scratching demo is horrible. If they can get away from their 'it has to do everything so we control it all' complex (so it ends up having to be loaded only with MS CrapLoops or whatever) and just making it be a MIDI controller whose actions you can map to your preferred music creation software, they really might have something compelling.

the control surface itsself looks alrite, but the software looks annoying and the guy interviewing seemed more excited about playing with it than it being shown off properly to its potention which puts me off.

Mainly he is eager to push the CEO of the company that created the software into the background, because he will be the first to go after the acquisition.

as do we all :)

btw, "Goatrance flyer" lol'd recollections of another forum where an electronic music dude had to explain to a rocker that it had nothing to do with goats, but it was too late: Goat Trance was etched in binary stone.
