Well, the title says it all: Grid snapping in midi editor cannot be bypassed by holding down (alt ). Is it a bug? Please help me if you have an answer..It's a very important feature because the editing is much quicker with this..

Thank you, but i don't mean the permanent "switch off" of the grid snapping..If you go at chapter 11.4.3 in Live manual you will see this:
"11.4.3 Grid Snapping
Most functions in the MIDI Editor are subject to grid snapping (see Using the Editing Grid). You
can hold down the Alt (PC) / (Mac) modifier while performing an action to bypass grid
snapping.
Note movements will also snap to an “offset,” which is based on the original placement of the note
relative to the grid. This is useful for preserving a groove or loose playing style that you do not
necessarily want to “set straight.” "
Now you see what i mean..if you want to make long notes among short ones it's very difficult without this fuction.For example, in Reason, you can do this automatically: you just make big notes, and if they are out of a grid box, they continue to the next grid box..In Live, if you make big notes, they split into two new parts!
It is not normal if we have to permanent deactivate and activate grid snapping everytime we want to make some longer notes than these of the snapping standart boxes..It's an automatic feature that every sequencer which uses grid snapping has.
The only solution in Live 4 is this shortcut with (alt ) that the manual reffers in chapters 11.4.3 and 11.4.6 below:
"11.4.6 Changing Note Length
Clicking and dragging on a note’s left or right edges changes its length. Note length can only be
changed when Draw Mode is inactive, and will be quantized unless the Alt (PC) / (Mac)
modifier is held down while dragging."
This function doesn't work for me. Is it a general bug? Help me please!

Seems fine here. Just: created a new clip; didn't bother activating draw mode so double clicked to get a note; dragged the end of the note and it snapped to the grid; held down ALT and it didn't.Edgar wrote:This function doesn't work for me. Is it a general bug? Help me please!
