Somewhat OT: Synplant & Live's X-Y Control

Post by lowbias » Thu Jul 09, 2009 5:30 pm

Anybody know if one can map the various gene controls in Synplant to the X-Y Control, or some other way of automating the gene parameters? Things like filter cutoff...can this be assigned to some sort of MIDI parameter so it can be automated?

Unfortunately none of the gene controls can be automated or mapped to controllers like kore or novation automap or configured by ableton's plug-in configure or XY-assigned. Which really stinks.

I've emailed the developer to request this, and apparently others have also requested it, but he's not sure if he wants to do it because he says the gene parameters yield drastic changes and are quite unpredictable. I personally don't understand this reason, since the branches are far more unpredictable (the whole thing is random) and they are midi controllable and automatable.

The gene parameters are very fun to tweak, except no fun with the mouse. They would make for an amazing midi hardware control setup and would very cool to automate, so go and request it from the developer! Please. :D
