Another Wishlist

I have a few ideas. Sorry if I'm writing some repeat reading for people, I wouldn't read this part of the forum but I would certainly like to help contribute.

1. Zoom function on transport bar, and midi control mappable

(surely I'm not the first to mention it, btw thanks for zoom in the first place, its a godsend)

2. Ability to have track view in browser view area

(reduces view switching, can edit track elements and clip elements seamlessly, frees an extra mouse button mapping..eliminates mouse movements and clicks, etc workflow benefits)

3. Built-in rename tool, or auto-rename features

(would be wow, less time junkin around and more time composing, could encourage an intuitive naming system consistent with all clips in all projects)

4. Ghost-Recording

(If you forget to arm for recording, but like what you did, a retrospective recording restoration (ARRRR) tool may lay out what you did as if you had recorded it. perhaps it would be like an inverse Undo tool, except with only very limited recall as it would probably involve a constantly overwritten cache. maybe not a bad idea if you can turn it on and off, as I imagine it consuming resources and causing unbearable lag. Maybe it only works for MIDI input(...at first>:D). Maybe as a callup tool from the context menu found in arrangement mode only, that way wherever you right click, assigned to the gridsnap where the 'now marker' will appear, is where it will begin to recall information starting with X time ago)

5. Ability to drag tracks into library.

(this request may be a lost cause, I understand some of the reasons for not allowing project creation within projects like the library. But you can move projects into other project folders already anyway,((or does this create problems for manager? I would like to know)) let there be saving projects in the library!)

6. Integrated pizza ordering

(I think it would be great if Ableton would automatically order a pizza for delivery based on the mood of the current project. This would be some kind of music analyzer like the 'Genius' feature on ipods, darker/sadder music means more spicy and meaty, something bright and upbeat would land you a hawaiian or veggie. The less written in arrangement view the thinner the crust. just some ideas to help start)

7. Slice Midi Clip to Midi Clips

(basically right click any midi clip, select 'Slice to Midi', and a tool appears for deciding how to divide the information by pitch, velocity, or time intervals. it could look like the chain selector or sampler zone grid where you can divide vel/key with X amt of chains in this case it would be proposed clips. this would be useful for making new instrument parts quickly. but it's true duplicate and dupe time are great for alot of that business.)

8. Quick-Bounce

(bouncing in ableton is so straightforward that its a task to perform, maybe you could make it easier to perform than needing to add arm and route everything necessary for the operation)

9. Effect/Instrument Basics from new context menu found in empty area of track view

(I know you might not want to appear to favor some instruments or effects over others, to encourage open endedness between the program and the user, but adding Util, EQ8, Compression, and some basic instruments, empty racks, to a context menu only found in the always present empty space in track view where it reads "Add Instruments or Effects Here." would be very useful. Currently there is no context menu for that area.)

10. Follow Button in clip view

(follow is already seperate for arrangement view and clip view, it would be great if when clip view follow is desired, the mouse would not have to traverse the latitudes currently required to click the button.)

11. Macros for Launch/Note/Envelope views

(meh, not so much, I think its fine as it is now. bad idea)

12. In preferences->look/feel, option for auto-assigning new clip colors based on colors of tracks they were created in.

13. Audio draw tool = eraser

(you know, like in adobe audition)

14. Right click Master Track title --> scene trim in context menu

(quickly trims the scenes in session view to the last scene occupied by any clip, OR deletes ALL unoccupied scenes.)

15. Blank Clip creator tool

(ability to employ a range of envelopes and/or other information across a series of clips. As just one good example, think of making a dummy clip 'rack' that sets itself up with menus. "I want X clips created to be named by numbers x thru y and have a difference of 1 chain selector envelope value increasing between each clip. oh and also I want them to span a range of panning from hard-left to hard-right over the range of the clips"...you get the idea. or perhaps being able to edit envelopes across multiple clips at the same time, that would be equally effective if you could command a range of envelopes across selected clips. I guess this idea isn't the most practical one for dev.)

16. ok running out of ideas thanks for listening and thanks for Ableton!!! 8)
