Programming Dubstep drums at 70 BPM instead of 140

This may sound like a stupid question, but what exactly does the drum programming (time signature) for dub step look like (I know you've got the snare on the 2 and 4 again right, and the kick doesn't sound like any typical breaks that I know). I haven't listened to it enough to figure it out and too lazy to go looking. Any chance you care to share?

Dubstep has actually got a lot of range as far as drum patterns. It is one of the more flexible genres for that, although it does tend to be marked by skittering trebly percussive elements.

actually, for dusbtep at 140 the snares on the 3

I'd do it the other way around: program at double the speed you want.
I use that on hardware drum machines a lot to get extra quantization.

I use a korg es-1 MKII to program drum beats

never tried it at 280. Will do when i get home.
Piece and keep them coming.

for me at 70 bpm the click track puts me to sleep and messes up my timing when i am tapping out rhythms. so i like 140 better because i can just lay back and jam..
its easier for me to play cut time to a click rather then double time.

That's really what I am going for is more of a halfstep feel....but actually understanding it and beating it out to my liking is why I was looking for more ideas.

program a fairly lively 1 bar break at 140 with the snares on the 2 & 4. In the clip properties switch double the bpm from 140 to 280. Change to loop length to 2 bars. Instant half-step break with the snares on the 3. Or, do the same with a 70bpm loop and change it to 140. Whatever suits your style.

I have always worked at 140, but now I am curious about doing a track at 70 and see if it puts me in a different zone creatively. I am going to try it.

All depends on what you wanna do.

You could also raise the bpm to 280... the real bpm feels 140 all the way, at 70 - 140 or 280bpm.

You could even go to the extreme 560
