Live 8 not recognizing mbox2.
Live 8 not recognizing mbox2.
A recently came upon a second hand Mbox2 which seems to be working well with ProTOols 7.4. But when I use Live 8 it doesn't display it in the drop down list where it sais audio devices. I have another sound card in the drop down menu (TapcoLink usb), and also guitar rig(Rig Control) which I no longer own. Is it possible to update the list to not display these soundcards I no longer use and get it to recognize the mbox2? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Two technics 1210 turntables, alot of guitars, 2gig Sony vgz fz290, 2gig frankenstein pc, mbox, ableton, flstudio, recycle, the infinity gauntlet, and alot of spare time..

Re: Live 8 not recognizing mbox2.
I'm currently using the MBox 2 with Live 8.0.4. I've updated the firmware to version 1.43 since I got it in 2006. To trouble shoot your MBox, have only it plugged in, no other USB devices and see if it works. Also, it uses a special USB cable. Check out http://duc.digidesign.com/ for more help on the Mbox.
Re: Live 8 not recognizing mbox2.
To get rid of those audio devices from the drop down, you need to make sure you've uninstalled the drivers for them.
I honestly don't know why the mbox2 won't show from your list if you're already running ProTools 7.4 with it successfully, I have an mbox2 (that's collecting dust - also 7.4) and it runs fine with Live 7, Live 8.
As far as I know, there's no limitation for how many audio devices you can have installed, so that drop down list should include the mbox 2.

Man this really sucks. Ok in the drop down list it shows Native instruments Rig control and asio digidesign driver in the audio device tab. I click on a asio digidesign driver and ableton crashes instantly. I think that the asio digidesign driver belongs to an Mbox 1 I had installed on the computer a couple months ago I used it once and gave it back. How is the mbox2 supposed to look like when it shows up in the audio device tab? This is really pissing me off im about to just break my computer and make music with a tape recorder. I uninstalled the native instruments rig control i dont understand why its still there.

EDIT>>>
It says Asio Digidesign driver... but, yeah, make sure the previous drivers have been uninstalled.

I believe I already uninstalled previous drivers when I check device manager it sais in Sound, video and game controllers : Digidesign Mbox2 audio driver as well as midi driver and sigmatel high definition codec which is the on board sound. Is there anywhere else I have to delete previous drivers?? I'm on Vista which only adds to my horror, thanks for your help man.

Hello,
We fixed a potential crash on the Mac, related to some uneven sample rates, and the Mbox was in some cases involved. You may want to give that beta a try:
