Hello,
25 tracks are usually no problem at all with your specs.
Please let us know:
- which buffer size do you use (see Preferences/audio)
- which sample rate ( " " " )
- do you get a flashing red "D" (in the right upper corner)
- does the problem persist after saving your set and reloading it?
Best,
Christian

Hello Christian, i tried different buffer sizes, 512, 1024, the session is in 44.1khz,
yes i get the D for dropout all the time...I managed to read more tracks after importing them one after the other...and wait for each track to be totally rendered...VERY time consuming...what surprises me the most is that i can read the same session on my PC,
Dell Quad Core...same external hard drive...so the Hard Drive isn t the problem, to me it s a problem of integration between live and OS X...I don t have anything else than Logic 8 and Ableton Live installed on my computers..But it won t play correctly on either my mac book or Imac...this is a serious problem...as i m always working with around 50 tracks...full of plugins...
And this is actually working under Windows XP...Cpu 4%
On Imac Cpu is 8%
Thank you..

Re: Ableton live 8.0.4 hard drive dropping out all the time....
I am getting the same irritating problem. Difference being that the droputs dont happen all the time but only once in a while but at least once in a multitrack session I have where I playback around 17 stereo tracks and try to record just one back from my ULN-8 card from Metric Halo. I tried this both from my Macbook pros HD and from an external eSata HD. Same problems as the "D" lits up in red once in a while but at least once during this 3.30 mins session, and its enough to ruin both playback and recording.
Ive ruled out everything already by also having tried diffent audio buffers etc etc and always same problem.
I am using Live 8.0.4 on a MBP (santarosa) with 4Gb and an Metric Halo ULN-8 with their latest 5.2 drivers and Mio Console.
Please HELP!

Ok I managed to make this thing work by importing each track very slowly one at a time...
You also can Flatten the tracks...you do freeze track and go to edit Flatten, you ll see a great difference in performance...
But still it s weird that to me it only happens when the files are coming from another software...
If i record directly in Ableton, I don't see any limitation...

I too am having problems with the dread flashing D in the upper right on my 2.2 Santa Rosa MBP.
Never happened before 8.0.4, got to say, it is pretty annoying. I think it is a software glitch with OS X.

I must agree to that...On other softwares it works perfectly so it s not computer related priblem but a software problem...but still...WE LOVE ABLETON LIVE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS...

Yes I Do, but considering all the really creative features that we find in Ableton this kind of bugs are unevitable...I work for one of the two major video games company in the world, and having a flawless video games is so complicated, off course a music soft will have some bugs..
Re: Ableton live 8.0.4 hard drive dropping out all the time....
Of course it's a great application but it's called Ableton LIVE and it drops out at least once every live perfomance I do...
I got a (very clean) macbook pro (HD 320 7200) and a metric halo 2882. I thought I would be safe but...
Anyway, I love ableton live and I'll keep supporting the company, it seems they really try hard to make things even better.
Cheers
