here's the 411 on midi assignments.
I - make sure the device is sending midi data.
IA - for this I check the midi in indicator in Live.
IA1 - if that doesn't work, I use 'midi ox' to view the midi data.
IA1a - if that doesn't work, then I check the controller's midi settings.
II turn the midi device on before launching Live.
IIA - I think with Macs this is less of an issue, or a non-issue altogether.
lets say Live's midi in indicator is working.
III from there it's a matter of having REMOTE IN turned on and I think applying note assignments where note assignments can go, same for CC assignments, I think but I've never had that problem. I think I read that here not too long ago.
IV if shit just won't work or is intermittent, change your cabling.
that's really all there is to it. I have no clue how many controllers I've helped people set up.

its a bit of a pain to setup and assign everything but whatever. Im having some difficulty! 
When i want to midi map its fucntions in live, it doesnt do it? Like live shows that its receieving midi messages from the PK, but its just not showing the assignments. Its runing on Midi channel 15 and its track button is on both on input and output of live. Any help?
