Live 4 handling of audio files?

Post by edIT » Thu Sep 02, 2004 7:46 am

I've been cutting up a lot of audio files in arrange view zooming and using Cmd+E etc.... and then sequencing those audio files in the Arrange View. Would Ableton perform better if I bounced those cut audio regions individually then re-imported them again and re-squenced them again, or is it better that I have tons of little audio regions referencing one long audio file. For Example, if I've got one drum break that I've cut into 20 pieces, and I sequence it all over the arrange, is it better to render/bounce those cutup drum hits individually and bring them back into the arrange again, or is it just the same as Live having those 20 hits reference one audio file? Anybody know/understand? or is this message just totally confusing? Also selecting the RAM button on audio files vs. streaming off disk? I run a 1.6 G5 w/ 2 gigs of RAM. Any suggestions? Which performs better?
