ABLETON DJ SET

Post by Dargelos » Sat Aug 29, 2009 8:24 pm

I want to start djing with ableton. My setup would consist of a MacBook pro running ableton live 8 of course, APC40 for triggering clips, and later on I want to add a Pioneer djm 800. But if i want to start djing just with the apc40 and ableton what sound card should i get. I dont want one to expensive right now cause ill just use it for practice, later on ill probably buy a more expensive sound card when i get the mixer and start djing shows, i just need something right now with two outputs so i can cue tracks on my headphones and have people listening to the master audio, for practice. HELP!

thanx

thats my percise set up. my first apc40 added in the other week. did my first set with it for last night. too many buttons. but redesigned my set so Its second run will be different.

regarding mixer. djm800 but you dont want to spend too much on a sound card. i like the djm800. the fx are avaible easy and ableton i can route music into other channel on my mixer with a knob.... so iv got my thing going on. i wouldnt recomend a djm800 tho. aficianados around here dont like them. i do like it. but took it too a gig a month ago.... (its really heavy)

as for the midi feature. that was great for me...... until i got the apc40 that is. iv unpluged my midi from my mixer. who needs it..

as for the zero latency from the djm hardware for the eq and faders thats a bonus but other mixers do that too.

i wouldnt have brought it up if you hadnt said. " i want the most exspensive mixer and a cheap soundcard."

howabout save your money and get UAD?

 I use NI AK1 with no issues. It has 2 stereo outs with independent headphone out, mic phantom power, midi, 4 sweet controllers, 24/192 and best of all you get decent NI synth free. For $200 its a steal. Latency might not be the best in the world though!
