So, I'm brand new to ableton. I create tracks with Reason 4.0 (myspace.com/thecompactdisco), and I just grabbed a copy of ableton live. I get the whole crossfading thing, and I know how to add in Auto Filter and EQ 8 and simple club DJ stuff like that, But I need help on learning how to use Warp, and how to use Beat Repeat.
You know how justice will take a short, 4 bar loop, and repeat it, then double time it, then double time it again (i.e. eighth, sixteenth, 32nd) and then speed up the global tempo and funkify everything? i wanna know how to do that for my live sets. I do live PA's with my DJ partner at local clubs in Chicago, playing Electro-house and Fidget-house stuff, a combination of live remixes [Ableton (drum loops and EQ stuff)+Reason (triggering synths)], and my own stuff.
So basically, i just wanna know what kinda stuff I can do with my live sets. How to manipulate songs. and what i can do with the ableton audio filters.

hi,
I recommend the manual, look for "warping" and try it out with a simple drumloop. The Audiofile gets divided into transients, which are calculated by various algorithmns by Live. Basically the transients are created by the amplitude of the different hits (in the drumloop). To speed up the whole loop, live takes the single elements and tightens them, or if you slow down the loop expands the transients. You can manipulate the generated anchor points of the transients to correct the "assumtions" of the Live algo, or do some freaky stuff by using them completely diffently. Its very complex, thats why you should use the manual and the built in tutorials of live.
