Omnisphere , I think I might buy you.

I have a roll of dough with you're name on it.
It tells me to put it in the bank today, and visit Sweetwater's web site...
I cannot say no. I have lusted after you're omni-spheres and cannot wait any longer.
I must have you. 50 gigs though...

Anyone else been smitten by this mistress? What is she like?

Great sounds,

Really really good.

Crap filters though.

There are loads of different types. They all sound pretty rubbish to my ears.

I dont't really rate the fx in it either. But then i use soundtoys and amplitube / guitar rig for time based fx and distortions so I guess they gonna be a harder aci to beat. . .

Well worth the money though. I have found myself using it more and more as time goes on. . .
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

Well worth it imo if the sample content appeals to you. If it's just to use as a va synth you probably don't need it.

Personally, I think the filters and fx are both quite good.

It's pretty much my go to synth at this point, and yes, I think the filters and (especially) the efx are awesome. Here's a review I wrote of it:

I actually prefer Atmosphere, the Omnisphere is just too massive. It's good to start a song with if you're looking for some really exotic sounds and make combinations of very weird sound sources. It sounds top notch, as you might expect.

Some cons:

- Heavy & Slow as f*ck
- At least in Ableton 7 & 8 a la Vista the effect crackle uncontrollably. Almost all of them, Verbs, Delays and Tape boost. Also those are damn slow to load.

Pros:

- The ultimate ambient/pad-synth.

I've been using Audjoo Helix a lot lately, that thing is just off the hook. It's a bit different, but much cheaper and much, much quicker to load.

Yeah, the huge samples are bit of catch 22. They sound great, but it can be slow to load. Really wish they could have found a way to get all thsoe sounds with a smaller sample set.

I've been jammin' to Binary Scenes, so I've heard it, to some extent. 8)
I tried really hard to achieve what I heard from the big O with Reason and some other synths, with limited results, wasn't too convinced.
I think it'll finish off my synth needs once and for all.
I might get a cold and not be able to work for a couple of days...

Binary Scenes makes heavy use of Omnisphere :)

expensive but well worth it. just got it a month or so ago and yeah, that library is HUGE, but that's the point right? and it's varied and generally of very high quality. the mixer makes it easy to setup multi-outs which is a must for DAW use of course.
