Vestax VCM 600 help

Post by Grezlow22 » Wed Sep 02, 2009 8:34 am

i have recently bought a VCM 600 midi controller which i am now using with ableton live 8. i am a new user of both the software and controller so excuse me if my questions are a bit obvious.

when i ise the auto mapping in ableton for this controller i run into a few problems, 1 of which is the channel faders. When i push the channel fader on thge controller to 10 then its value in ableton of that specific channel is 6dB. Can this be changed so that when the fader is at 10, the channel fader in ableton can be at unity? i also find that it is a little jumpy when the fader is incresed or decreased. Can this be changed so that it is a smoother fade?

Also i am having troubles reassigning controllers. When i try to reassign the pan pot as a channel gain it basically wont let me.

Anyone got ne ideas??

thanks

i have a VCM too - lovely controller
a couple of things to point out from my experiences of it
there are a couple of small nobs on the front side which control the velocity curves of faders and the cross fader - (i didnt realise this straight away!)
also remember there are takeover mode settings both on the device itself and inside of live in the midi prefs tab

with regards to your assignment question, not sure what you mean by unity (zero perhaps) but inside live for midi parameters you can set a bottom and top range when you are in midi map mode. leave the bottom as is and set the max range to be zero then 10 on the VCM is 0db in live
If you are using automap then i guess you will need to update the midi remote script...

if you are having trouble assigning - have you remote enabled the device in midi pref? Light up the remote box for vcm-600

i have now solved all them problems, thanks.

but i have new ones arising now. lol

the effects section..... can i assign the six pots in this section to different thins in side ableton and use a button to trigger which plug in i want them to specifically work with at that time.

i.e.

if i assign all six pot to say all parameters on a beat repeat plug in on a specific track but then i wanted them to also control another six parameters on another pug in on another track.

can this be dun???
