And no one cares!!

Sing along....

Rockin' the entire NIN catalog at work today.

Why does angry music make me so happy? (and a lot of happy music annoys me 8O )

"nothing can stop me now because I don't care anymore."
that line could get me to run through brick walls.

I don't understand people who don't appreciate angry music. I know there's some age cut off because I wouldn't expect my mom to bust out Slayer...scary, a time when there was no angry music. How did they cope? 8O

I like 80's rock and metal. It was all about getting drunk and laid.

they had angry music it's just not as extreme as today's music.

Cream, Zeppelin, Hendrix, the Who...

prior to that Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, prior to that I'd guess it was jazz music that was the equivalent.

Old blues always seems to simmer with a subdued anger, to me at least. This song ain't in your face roar, but I think it's raw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAKfy2W70Qg

Ska doesn't depress me but I'm also not a fan. I typically don't like music that causes the physical reaction of just jumping up and down or happy moshing. Throw most Techno, Donk, and Hard Trance in there as well. Can't stand Sublime and I'm sure I'll get a lot of haters for that one.

I'll also sometimes listen to playlists that are full of songs that most would find depressing either in lyric content, melody, or both, but it's the fact that they provoke some kind of emotion in me that makes me happy.

On Year Zero now....awesome!

I've mentioned on here before that I usually don't like NIN releases when they come out until the next album is released and then for some weird reason I really like the previous release that I didn't like before. Still don't like The Slip.

So do you think those were happier times or people were just more repressed? The music was more like "I'm very disappointed" than "I'm fucking pissed off!"

Music is usually a pretty good snapshot of what is happening in the world at the time. johnisfaster started that thread about the current absence of music with meaning compared to past time periods, but that is probably a good snapshot of where we are at now, self-absorbed, materialistic, and while we can talk on a base level about world events, most don't really give a shit unless it is impacting them directly.
