Stand up studios - anyone working without a chair?

Thinking about rearranging my working area completely whenever I next get the chance - i.e. next flat move.

Am really thinking about building up everything vertically against a wall - keyboard at waist height, laptop a bit higher, monitors at ear height, my two rack synths somewhere between, but the idea is that it would be a working area where I'd stand up the whole time and everything arranged for that.

I have to admit I haven't looked at every photo in the Post your Set-up thread, but I think everything I saw is the sitting down by a desk with variations on being surrounded by equipment, but basically everything set up for seated use.

When performing live I much prefer standing up, I like the dynamic of moving around, keeps me more focused, I feel.

So... anyone else already with a standing up set-up? Any thoughts? Pros and cons?

Yeah have been moving around more, although studio is only tiny.

have to stand up to sing and the mic is up against the opposite wall to the percuter so...

i have a 'dual' setup

computer and keyboard are in sitting position, electribes are in standing position (comes from the time doing live stuff with just two electribes and a midi cable) and my padkontrol i placed so i can play it sitting or standing (usually for drums) serves me well and keeps me a bit in physical action, i get less tired and 'stiff' if i work the whole day.

gonna take a fresh pic and post it.

I like to sit for my production work (it is all done on a desktop) and stand for any DJ / Live prep work (on laptop + DJ gear). Dancing around the studio is a big part of dj/live prep work for me . lol

Basically, I'd look to setting it up very similar to yours, but maybe wider so that the keyboard can sit deeper in the shelf, no protruding shelf at the front, i.e. flatter and hopefully more ergonomic than what I'm doing at the moment.

na, the difference in depth is nothing... might look weird on the picture... it's comfy as hell.

i can even reach the electribes completely with a little stretch from the sitting position... if i want / need

i really spend a lot of thought on this one... i had dozens of different setups before... and OK way more analog, that i got luckily rid of.

it's ultra compact and does all i need in maximum comfort.

yeah, the importance is sometimes in very small details, like i spend again nearly a whole day re-doing the whole wiring, to make it as noise free as possible... i see a lot of cable mess in posted pics in the studio + cat section... it does make such a difference... i reduced artifacts again about 20%,
ok, i hardly use analog anymore and don't do much analog / mic recording at home... any serious recording takes place elsewhere... and i just take it home for production and mixing... i had the luck to take a Klark Teknik DN - 6000 home and measure my monitor setup. it's professional for that kind of use... for certain microphone recordings, obviously not.

and the ergonomic comfort is a mixture of personal preferences and some experience with different set-ups.

a table about 60cm high with my puter and keys and a comfy chair behind.
and a keyboard stand (with a drawing board on top from ikea), housing the APC and a laptop. it's about 90cm high. and i can reach for the APC both sitting down and standing up.
