Master Channel Effects to boost volume

hi all i have created 1 hour dj mix using live 8 but iam struggling with the overall volume of the mix, what effects do you suggest to overcome this problem please, i have been using the compressor 2 so far in the master channel?

The compressor should do the trick...the input and output gains offer two boosts, and then a limiter can keep it from peaking. I wouldn't go too crazy with this method, though, it's a bit destructive to the signals. It's always better to get the signal up to level early and keep it there, but I'm no pro :). You can also manually create an envelope that adjusts the volume or compression gain, or you could just normalize on export when you mix it down.
