Syncing controllers

I, along with my fellow Dj Partner in Crime have encountered a problem with syncing our MIDI controllers and Ableton. It seem to be that whenever I trigger an effect using my mpd32 it ultimately effect something on his Ableton setup, be it a triggered clip or an Fx. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so how do I remedy it?

Mac or PC or both?

How are you synching? via LAN? Midi interface? USB?

Make sure the 2 computers don't have the same name midi ports, try renaming the midi ports on one to make sure it isn't getting confused.

Also make sure the track and remote buttons are turned off for all midi inputs that aren't needed on both computers in the Live preferences.

If you aren't doing it via lan, then look into it, it's a neater way of doing it.

We're ultimately syncing from my mpd 32 to his mpd 24. The problem is when I'll push a button on my controller and it will effect bot of our computers instead of just mine. So, if he turns his inputs off and just leaves his syncs on will that maybe cure the problem?

Turning off any uneeded ones will help0,l but making sure the 2 computers are using different ports with different names should solve it.
