mapping question/apc40

Post by imthealien » Fri Sep 25, 2009 2:01 am

i'm having a bit of a confusing go at mapping 3 synths (ableton Live 8 analog synths ) on 3 different tracks onto the device control knobs of the apc40. When i map, let's say, the filter cutoff on device control knob 1 and resonance to the device knob 2 on the apc40: they control the 3 synths filter and resonance parameters on the three tracks in ableton simultaneously. How do I control each track/synth seperately when the track is playing with the same mapped knob and parameters? I thought by just choosing the specified track, the device knobs would only control that specific track when the song played. (should I be placing the synths into seperate insrument racks and then use the macro control to achieve this???) Thanks for any help!!!

if you midi map the knob it will over ride the auto map feature of the apc.

i would recommend that you set up instrument racks for your synths then map the macros to control thing parameters that you want
(by consistent too ie: always map the filter reso/cut off nobs to the same position)

then collapse the instrument rack down so you just see the macros
so now when you select the track the knobs will auto map to the first set of 8 parameters which will be you instrument rack macros.

is you set up your effects racks in similar manner you will be able to quickly shift between you racks and adjust you parameters using the apc 40
