New Dub Stepish type track

Post by Mehalic » Fri Sep 25, 2009 11:59 pm

New track I'm working, this is the first cut. I was experimenting with a new way of creating a bass patch for dubstep by layering bass, sampling it and then throwing it into Kontakt. Worked pretty good, but I didn't get the type of movement I wanted on the bass. But I think its sounding pretty good - what do you guys think? I also think the kick can be more prevalent and the arrangement needs some work (a break down would be nice - ha!).

i see the experimentalism in the bass line - it comes across as a bit wash & heavy though in the mix, drowning out the drums - but i think it is headed in the right direction. perhaps if it wasn't always on timed beat or LFO'd differently...

i like the vocal sample but more variation is needed

keep up the good work - the vibe & feel of the track is definitely there!

Thanks for the feedback Tommy, appreciate it man! Yeah, I was working on trying to get that wobble with a sampler and was having a hard time getting good movement on bass (although I think it may have to do with the sample I was using for the bass as well). More clarity and definition on the low end is definitely needed!

Also agree with the vocal, I need to make it move over the last half of the track so it doesn't get annoying!

Thanks again for taking the time to listen!!
