AngstroLooper - Can't get midi learn to work - Help

Post by pairajacks » Sun Sep 27, 2009 2:17 am

I've got an older version of Live before Ableton added the looping feature. All I really want is to get AnstroLooper to loop hands-free (I intend to use the keyboard sustain pedal). I haven't been able to midi map the record button (on AngstroLooper) using the MidiLearn Angstrolooper feature. Actually, I haven't been able to get it to midilearn anything.

Does MidiLearn work for anyone? How did you do it?

(I've tried other programs... LoopyLLama doesn't appear to have midi learn, and Mobious is pretty unintuitive... never got a loop out of it, but there are plenty of buttons)

Armstrong looper is the same thing as AngstroLooper. At least that's what googling showed.

I've moved on to Mobius despite its awkward looking interface. It really looks very powerfull and not that difficult. Except I can't seem to figure out how to control its device parameters (without using a mouse). Mobius only shows (8) of probably (100) functions, available for key-mapping.

What you should do is program midi commands (in Mobius the "Midi Control" section) while running the standalone version. Those commands will be effective in the plugin in Live. You can also tweak the interface to include or exclude buttons, or move things around while holding the shift key.

Also, the record command has to be a midi note in order to take advantage of the "hold record = reset" function.

Mobius is awesome. It has so much power and potential. A new GUI though would make it so much better...

I discovered that you can use keyboard input (in my case, an old keyboard being used as a footswitch) to control Mobius Record function. You have to use Sustain. The short manual even talks about the use of Sustain to make the key-down act differently. However, I haven't figured out how to do Sustain-Pause or Sustain-Anything else. Is there a macro to do this? I'm curious what the FCB1010 does (it's essentially a key press). Maybe the UNO chip upgrade converts a key-up/key down to a sustain event. Hmmm. Comments?
