Hello - I am enjoying Live 4 very much.
I am finding it tricky to launch loops I am performing live in real time while then moving on to performing a subsequent loop on another track right on the beat. For example, recording the bass part on one track which becomes a loop and then immediately moving on to building another instrument/part on another track - I don't want to have to wait for the loop to come around again before I record the next clip on another track- I want just keep playing on the beat but a new part.
Though this somewhat achievable now, you have to set some things up ahead of time - such as clip lengths and other propertites - and are therefore limiting yourself with live improvisation by imposing a structure over the top. Right now I have to assign a midi controller to each individual clip (ahead of time) forcing my small brain to keep track of what's where when it comes to launching a clip that is in record mode into loop mode.
Live enables you to gracefully handle MIDI controlled horizontal navigation of the session grid via the next/previous scene and scene launch/stop assignments. If you could also add next/previous track and clip play/stop as MIDI controllable assignments that would enable horizontal navigation of the session grid as well.
Such a feature would enable me to easily new record loops on the fly while also being able to quickly move from track to track. If there is a better way to do what I am describing, please let me know! If I did not describe myself very well, please let me know!
