reason and ableton rewired workflow?
reason and ableton rewired workflow?
Hey, i will be rewiring reson4 and ableton7 for the first time and was wondering to pros and cons of two methods of sequencing? The first is sequencing and rendering everything in reason, then import audio into live. the second is, sequencing and redering everything in live. Should i skip rendering in reason to avoid inferior sound quality or is it all the same? Thanks in advance.

It's all the same. But I'd rather just rewire it and sequence my stuff in Live. I sometimes sequence in Reason also coz I find it easier there for MIDI editing and stuff. There's really no right or wrong method. That only depends on how you feel. Or if you don't wanna open both programs everytime(Which I don't mind at all), just freeze and flatten all the Reason sounds that you've sequenced in Live, and all of those MIDI data will become audio. So from there, you could just concentrate in Live.

thanks for the info chelemasty. Another problem i have is that, i like to automate a lot. So im thinking the best solution for this is to render in reason and import into live, correct?

Well in that case, record those automations on Reason's sequencer. And then rewire it after that. And if you wanna mangle your recorded synths in Reason and decided to make it as an audio file, you could record each rewired tracks to make it as an audio by creating an audio track and set the AUDIO FROM to Reason and under it, choose what's the channel of your rewired sounds from Reason. Do that to all the rewired sounds coming from Reason, after that, you record it ofcourse, then you'll have all the sounds coming from Reason as an audio file. Be sure to just use the Hardware Device of Reason so that you could route each pair of output from the Reason's Hardware Device to each Live's track. So by doing that, no more soloing and bouncing each track from Reason, which is a pain in the butt.

I love the LIVE MIDI sequencer too much. I do all my drums on Reason using the drum computer as I like that better than anything ableton has to offer, then record it to a channel, works nice.
