Metronome Click vs the Waveform

Hi,

So been playing with Albeton for a few months and have searched to no avail.

When lining up some of my warp markers to the metronome
i'd say about 90% of the time it "Looks Like" my warp markers
are behind the beat (as far as what my eye sees) but my ear hears
the metronome in time with the audio.

Is this correct?
Does the latency of the audio have anything to do with this?
Also if I warp on different sound cards, will this possibly affect
things in the future (internal mac audio, firewire 410 and Digi003)?

After warping a few hundred tracks for DJ use.
I found that they were not matching very well.
When I went back to a bunch and really warped them to the metronome to
make them tight and ignoring what I was seeing....this helped to make them
more mixable.

The teacher in me tells me to listen to my ears.
and it is best to have a "Central" reference that everything relates to.

Insight from experts greatly appreciated.

waveform 100% imo
If u dont trust the final result, throw it into Arrangement view, and check that the main transients line up with the grid there.
Failing that, run 2 warped clips at the same time, listen to the result? Perfect or Traincrash?

I always use the same synth playing a kick drum loop as my reference. A nice punchy kick on its own with the midi notes bang on the beat.

Then I set warp markers for the beginning of the song (say the first 17 bars), using the waveform as a guide. I can then check how this sounds against the synth kick and adjust it so that it is perfectly tight (I tend to use headphones for this as they are clearer and more accurate).

Finally I check where the markers have ended up on each beat, zoom in to see exactly at which point they fall on the waveform and place them at various points through out the song at exactly the same point on the kick.

This tutorial made it easy to learn 8 warpping. Really the second half of the video is what I watched a few times to get the grasp.
