How on earth do you get sidechaining to work in Live 6?

I have downloaded the SSS compressor which allows sidechaining.

I put the compressor in its own channel. I send both the kick and the bassline to this channel. I can then hear it sidechaining -'pumping', but then the kick disappears from the master channel?

What am i doing wrong?

Or other live 6 users, how do you guys sidechain?

E.g.:
Let us say you want to affect the bass with the kick. Put the compressor on the bass track.
Make a copy of the kick track you want to affect the sidechained bass.
Send the kick track's output to the compressor of the bass track.
